Plastic Bag Drive: Earth Month 2025

Every year during Earth Month (April), Clean Up - Give Back facilitates the upcycling of over 20,000 pounds of pliable plastic bags and film! We do this by partnering with hundreds of locations, including schools, businesses, and clubs. Our partners collect all month and deliver the bags to our location! We then pass the plastic bags off to NexTrex, who up-cycles the bags into usable composite decking and furniture! The items that are acceptable for collection are in the pdfs available for download below.

Plastic films (types 2 & 4) are extremely detrimental to the health of the environment. Because they decompose faster than many kinds of plastic, they actually seep harmful waste and chemicals into the environment much faster! Additionally, many people do not know that these plastic bags cannot be placed in recycling bins: as they harm the machinery of trash haulers. Our plastic bag drive raises awareness about proper plastic film recycling, as well as diverts this harmful plastic film from landfills!

We keep participation simple, with just 5 easy steps! Procure a Collection Box, Decorate your Box, Sign Up on our Website, Collect Plastic Bags, and Deliver the Bags to our Location! (pickups available for sponsors of the Earth Month Initiatives). To explain the steps: Find any box big enough for your collection needs, print and decorate it with the "Decoration Files" download below + your own artistry, sign up below, collect bags from family/friends/organization/company, and then bring us the bags anytime, 24/7! We have collection bins in front of our building, but don't let that stop you from coming in and saying hello!
